In an appreciation in The New York Times, Francis X. Clines wrote: "The playwright Horton Foote died last year, never to see theater lovers turned away nightly from his parting masterwork, 'Orphans’ Home Cycle.' The Year of Horton Foote
Horton Foote's work and legacy continue to make news and earn accolades across the country. The Orphans' Home Cycle -- including plays such as Courtship, Valentine's Day and 1918 which were enjoyed by Profile audiences this season -- were recently the focus of a feature article in the New York Times: "Daughter cares for her father's 'Orphans.'"
That critically-acclaimed production of The Orphans' Home Cycle will be making the move to Broadway this fall.
"Horton Foote: An appreciation" appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, which hailed him as "a playwright for the common man."
In honor of Foote's contributions, a new scholarship for playwrights in honor of Horton Foote has just been announced.
Profile gets its own profile on KGW's Live @ 7 newscast
Profile Theatre made news when reporter Joe Smith of KGW-TV's Live @ 7 visited the theatre for his nightly "PDX Tonight" feature showcasting arts, culture and events in Portland.
Excellent reviews, enthusiastic audiences and standing ovations greeted Profile Theatre's production of "The Trip to Bountiful" which ended its run on November 1.
